It's been a month of looking at alignment and in particular looking at the movement and positioning of the pelvis and how this affects the whole body's health and function. How proper positioning of the pelvis in yoga can activate the correct muscles in a pose getting the stretch to where it needs to be in the body and stabilising the body through alignment rather than a gripping in the core muscles.
This has brought about a new level of awareness to being mindful in the practise and I'm feeling that maybe this month whilst continuing to be mindful to our alignment, we can relax a little more and flow with the breath, bringing in the element of fluidity as we head towards the summer and a peak in our energy.
For more details on alignment and its importance I cannot recommend highly enough the work and literature of Katy Bowman. Her books Alignment Matters or Move Your DNA are a great place to start.
